Being a huge fan of Log Cabin blocks, and having recently flicked through this book over the Easter hols, I decided to put some of my large print leftovers to good use!

Giant block quilts are great for those larger scale prints which can often be hard to place in a pattern.
I enjoyed putting this quick easy quilt top together. As far as the quilting goes, I'm seeing some condensed quilting in it, but it might have to become a UFO for a bit while I crack on with work commitments!
I blame the hottest day of the year here so far for making me deviate today!

Very nice :o) I did a giant wonky log cabin a few months ago, put it aside til I dug out more white for one last side, and I haven't picked it up since - oops!
ReplyDeletethese big blocks certainly grow quickly, a nice range of fabrics here
ReplyDeleteshows off those big prints wonderfully x
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I have a bundle of Amy Butler FQ's that I'm itching to use but need a large scale pattern so I don't lose the beauty of the big scale designs.
ReplyDeleteLooks fab, great idea, and how on earth did i miss H's beautiful block?
ReplyDeleteI love that those big prints look so at home not having been chopped into weeny pieces. Pretty summer funky quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove it, an actual log cabin-sized log cabin!
ReplyDeletea bit of deviance can be fun!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually like Amy Butler prints that much, but they look great in this quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the hottest day of the year in Northern Ireland? I guess 23 C?
