Last week (on holiday) I had planned to get stuck into a gorgeous bespoke charm pack I won some time ago from Pickle Dish.
I wanted to do v.little to these cute squares, and thought about a stacked coin style design.
But then I got to thinking (oh no!) that these colours would look really good in my bedroom, and I have a large & long space on a wall which is crying out for a quilt.
So to fill this space on my wall I've added a few more squares from my stash,
cut up an endless number of white hsts,
and the plan is now to make a flying geese style quilt, similar in style to this one.
From Red Pepper Quilts |
Problem is, I can't bring myself to cut into the charm squares in case I change my mind again!!! I just need to take a deep breath and go for it!
I also don't know what to call this quilt, so I may run a wee Naming competition/giveaway - watch this space!
The cutting that I did manage to do yesterday, was for the Across the Sea QAL.
What a lot of squares and rectangles - so glad I only signed up for the cot size quilt!
Gorgeous colours - can't wait to see the finished quilt!
ReplyDeleteLike your picks for across the sea, that's going to be real nice. Love the charms, hope you get them cut up soon!
ReplyDeleteOh those charms are gorgeous - I totally understand your wavering!
ReplyDeleteI spotted an Oh Fransson pattern in today's post this morning which I think will become my 'go to' don't want to cut too much quilt!
I love your charm squares - such gorgeous colours! I think your choice of project is perfect - it'll really showcase the fabrics and you can have hours of fun rearranging the FG!
ReplyDeleteSo much quilting activity and such luscious fabrics!! I can see how it would be hard to cut into them. Perhaps just hang a photo of your picks on the wall? Nah... a real quilt would be better. I have always loved Flying Geese-- good choice! The colors in your photos are wonderful! Looking forward to seeing how your projects evolve!
ReplyDeleteOooooh the fabrics for your geese quilt look great! I cut all my fabric for the Across the sea quilt last night. you're right - lots of sqaures and rectangles :)
ReplyDeleteThe charms are just fantastic together! Go on and cut them - they're going to be beautiful in a FG quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love your colour combos!
ReplyDeleteI haven't cut my ATS fabrics yet... better get a move on!
That colour combination is fantastic, I spy a favourite fabric of mine in there - the purple with the little bicycles - so cute! I am having a similar dilemma with a charm pack of 'Sherbet Pips', to cut or not to cut?
ReplyDeleteI think that's a perfect choice of project for those charms! Space around each print to show it off and a reasonably large chunk of fabric so you don't lose the design. Go for it! x
ReplyDeleteGo for it! It will be amazing with those gorgeous fabrics and your talent!
ReplyDeleteGet cutting! It's going to look fantastic. And you will have lots of wee triangle cut offs tonplay with after.
ReplyDeleteI sure understand wanting to save the beautiful fabric and worrying about the perfect project but then they are hiding on the shelf. I say, cut them and make your quilt, it will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAll your fabric is lovely! I understand your qualms but you have to be brave for it to be beautiful!
