Have you noticed how aprons have become very fashionable again?
I love the vintage, retro ones that are about at the moment, almost too nice to wear when cooking!
Now I'm known for many things (let me have this one dillusion!), but being a domestic goddesss in the kitchen is not one of them (just ask my long suffering family!).
So I don't actually use an apron myself, but I know lots of folks who do.
I drafted this simple pattern that folks could make in a one day workshop.
You can tie it at the front or the back ....
..... and it has an adjustable neck strap!
I tried to get some decent pics of me wearing the apron to give you a sense of scale and the front pocket, but my photo shoot didn't go too well!
And as I will definitely be making some of these as gifts for friends and family, how about gift wrapping it in a jar!
I hope to have a few more variations of these aprons made in time for the workshop next term!
Have a great weekend!
You have missed your calling as domestic goddess with that beautiful apron. Lol. Di x
ReplyDeleteWhat a awesome apron... I bet when you are wearing it you feel like you could cook anything and for a army of people too :o)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great pinny - bet it makes nice cakes!
ReplyDeleteI love the style of this apron! Would definitely make me a domestic goddess if I wore one!
ReplyDeleteYou look dangerous with that rolling pin, and the apron is much too nice to splash lasagne sauce all over. Nice one to put on when waiting for your 1950s hubby to come home from a hard day at the office. Seriously, I love it - great idea for a workshop!
ReplyDeleteBeuatiful apron, very stylish!
ReplyDeleteI think it's all part of people totally embracing retro, but hey, if you make money from it, long live retro :oD
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely too cute!! Loving the jars too! X
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, love the idea of presenting it in a jar too. I don't often wear an apron, I usually think about it when it's too late!
ReplyDeleteGreat apron and super idea to gift wrap with a jar!
ReplyDeleteJudith, your apron is quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat is one posh pinny!
ReplyDeleteWow fab apron and I love the idea of gift wrapping it in the jar! Your like a bond girl in those photos with yr apron and rolling pin-or is it miss moneypinny?? Xx
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant but I am as you: never wear an apron and as it was the only sewing project in school I failed (an other one) I will also not make them as a gift. I love the idea with the jar. I adore this closing!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo shoot! And that massive big bow on the apron. Great pattern.
ReplyDeleteHi Judith! That's beautiful apron! I love aprons but as I also try to avoid cooking, I don't use apron. Your photo shooting went really well! I the biggest photo you look so great with the apron that I think it could be used also outside of the kitchen. I have made few very small aprons to use in the garden to keep my phone and goodies for Nero. x Teje
ReplyDeleteDomestic goddess you may not be (your words) but in that apron you sure look the part! Bit confused as you and the mannequin seem to be wearing the same top!
ReplyDeleteDomestic goddess you are in that apron! Love it!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You look a bit deadly with that rolling pin :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I get busy for a few days and you finish two quilts and a brilliant apron too. I love them all!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see you doing Gangnam style in that pinny with the rolling pin obvs. It's so cute as are you!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS IDEA! Love it. Great pattern, awesome bow and adorable little flower. It's a hit! Great idea, too, placing it in a mason jar for gifting. You're on a roll. Har har har.
ReplyDeleteLooking good Judith, love this idea...look forward to this class.
ReplyDeleteI love this post! The apron is FAB and your photo shoot is such fun. And a pretty present in a jar wrapped in lace? Perfect. :)
