Bee Blessed - the first gathering!

Many of you will already know about a new charity quilting bee that Sarah and I are starting up, called Bee Blessed.

Well this afternoon, the first official gathering of Bee Blessed got underway in my house.  I have been amazed by the enthusiastic response to this exciting new venture!

There were 8 of us today, and that was with 4 apologies from others who couldn't make it!

Some of the ladies hard at work!
The furniture got pushed back, the tables & ironing boards were set up and the tea, cake & bicsuits were out.  Lots of chatting, laughing (& some sewing!) was the order of the day!
New friendships were made, along with more wonky star blocks to make into cot quilts.

We even had the lovely Karen (Listen to the Birds Sing) travel all the way down from Coleraine to sew with us.
Sarah & Karen
It was a privilege meeting Karen, who is a recent blogging friend, and she touched my heart with her generosity, gifts for me & my girls, and her warm personality.  Sarah & I have arranged to meet up with Karen for another sewing day, up in her neck of the woods, next month!

L-R: Karen, Me, Sarah

So well done ladies on a fabulous start to Bee Blessed.  I look forward to sewing alongside you again in 3 weeks time (I'll try to talk less and sew more next time, honest!).

Next time, we will start putting the blocks together into quilt tops, and chat about what our next project will be.
To those of you who have already donated wonky star blocks and fabrics - a huge THANK YOU!

Also a big THANK YOU to River Fabrics for donating some gorgeous kiddie fabrics to the Bee.
