I know for a fact that I'm not the only blogger who likes a wee granny nap during the day, when I can get one!
In fact, my 2nd favourite hobby is sleeping!
Well I've finally finished the 3rd vintage sheets quilt (started last year!) and as this one is for me, I've decided it will be my Granny Naps Quilt!
I find the colours and fabrics in this quilt so soothing and peaceful, perfect for nap time!
There are some precious fabrics in there too. A Liberty hankie from my sister, my childhood pillowcase and I fussy cut some embroidery from my Nanny Martha's tray cloths!
Even the backing (thank you M!) reminds me of my 1970's purple bedroom as a child!
So lots of lovely memories and thoughts to bring me comfort and joy as I snuggle down for a dreamy kip!
And I might just have road tested it today too! Wink! Wink!
LOL regarding the nanny nap! It is a really beautiful quilt with memories sewn into it. Enjoy your forty winks. Di x

ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt, love the look of that binding. I have some good news...I did my tax return this evening so I plan to spend tomorrow evening sorting out vintage sheet FQ's!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to nap during the day too, but the boss, he say no... ;o) Looks great though!
ReplyDeleteJust love it!! I love a wee snooze!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful Judith, and so special. x
ReplyDeleteHooray - you are finally keeping something you made for yourself!! It's such a soft and friendly wee quilt - perfect for a snoozing companion! Granny naps sound like bliss - if only...
ReplyDeletePerfect! I love quilts that hold memories! Love the backing.
ReplyDeleteThat's brilliant. I love the idea of using vintage embroidery and hankies in with the sheets. I could sleep for England at the moment. I'm sure my body thinks it should be hibernating. I think I need a nan nap quilt!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that J, really lovely and the little special species in it! I could do with a nap now just send it down to me! Fi
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt. I wish I could find such lovely vintage sheets to recycle that way! I love the little personal touches in in to. Day napping is not for me but a quilt like that would be lovely to cosy up under to watch tv on a chilly winter's evening or an extra layer on my chilly feet at the end of the bed.

I remember the sheets with the purple flowers that are on either side of the embroidered hanky! They were on the bed where I would sleep at my Grandmas house. So that pattern was in Australia as well as Ireland!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Soothing enough for napping under, but bright enough for waking up under afterwards :)
ReplyDeleteThese photos are absolutely beautiful! Love the staging and how it shows off the colors/prints. I only notice these things b/c I'm just up from my granny nap. Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I just commented...I'll try again! I love it and am sure you'll have lots of lovely naps under it!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, and I am sure it will help with lovely naps. And I can totally see you with a purple bedroom.
ReplyDeleteOh yes I discovered the nana nap years ago and I love your quilt especially made for this purpose! Love the fussy cut traycloths too so special! x
