Christmas Gifts part 5

Christmas isn't complete without a wee stocking, or two.

These mini ones make great gifts, either just by themselves, or filled with all manner of goodies!

They are approx. 10" in height and fun and quick to make, depending on how decorative you want them to be.  And another great way to use up smaller scraps!

And speaking of small pieces of fabric, last week I received my Christmas Charm pack, from the swap organised by the lovely Emily.

There are 2 squares of every fabric you see here!

56 squares of yumminess to play with!  

I just can't decide what to make with them!  At the moment I'm leaning towards a table runner for my dining room table, which at Christmas time becomes ridiculously long (good 'ol IKEA!).

A day of Kind Stitches

Yesterday I spent a lovely day in the North Coast countryside with 2 lovely people.

My friend Sarah and I drove up to Karen's house to spend the day sewing blocks and quilt tops for Karen's Kind Stitches Charity.

The surroundings were stunning, the food & hospitality was amazing (thank you K) and of course the chat was constant!

But we also got some sewing done!

Many of you have been contributing 6.5" blocks to Karen over the past weeks, and we managed to get a girl's quilt top finished and a boy's quilt top almost finished (there are more incriminating pics on Karen's blog!).

These will eventually be non-wadded quilts for children who have been trafficked in Thailand, and Karen will take them out herself in November.

This lovely fabric & the England Swings Collection is available from River Fabrics.

There are 28 of us each sending a metre's worth of 5" squares (56) to Emily, who will mix them all up and send us back 56 different charm squares!

Great idea and my first fabric swap.  

I haven't a notion what I'm going to make with these charm squares, maybe I'll be inspired when I have them all in my hand.

These 2 are slightly smaller than Modern Maud, and are actually the result of my playing around with the Bag for Life pattern I sketched out (it's amazing what you end up with compared to what you start with!).

So what do you think of the new addition to the family?

In other news, yesterday I received my first Small Goodie Swap parcel - all the way from Australia!

Just look at all these lovelies, incl. Denise Schmidt scraps - yum!

The back of the mugrug is as gorgeous as the front!

Thank you Kat for these gorgeous and beautifully made gifts.  When I first saw the pics of them on flickr I almost shouted at the computer 'pleeeease be mine', and was gob-smacked when I opened the parcel!  I think I'm the envy of one or two other swap members in the group, tee hee!

We each get 2 parcels in this swap, so I've still got one more to look forward to.  Hmmmm, I wonder who it will be from?

And last but not least, I've signed up to Emily's (Strawberry Patch) Christmas Charm Swap.

Emily needs 28 participants, each to purchase a meter of fabric and cut it into 56 charm squares of 5". We then post the fabric to her, Emily mixes them up and sends us back 28 different prints with 2 squares of each!  Sounds fab doesn't it?  Now Emily doesn't yet have 28 people signed up yet, and we can't run the swap with less than 28, so pleeeeeese hop on over to Emily's and get signed up. 

And when you do, you'll have lovely fabrics to get working on the irresistible swap over at Susan's blog Canadian Abroad!
