At Fat Quarterly Retreat, I took Kerry's class on making pyjama bottoms! We were working from a paper pattern, a first for me!
I'm sure I could have got them made in the 3 hour workshop, the construction is straightforward, but too much nattering and catching up with friends meant I left retreat with a half finished pair! Just as well I had packed another pair as I was sharing a bed with Terri that night!! Eeeeeek!
Anyway, a spare half an hour this week enabled me to get my pjs finished!
I used a vintage sheet for my pjs - so snuggly and soft! This particular sheet was donated to me by this lovely lady (& Kerry's beautiful assistant)! I have enough left for another pair!
I used a different vintage sheet fq for the turn-ups! It is so refreshing for me to have Pjs that are actually too long for my 32" legs!
I've really enjoyed making these, and at the risk of looking like the Von Trapp Family, I have pairs already cut out for all my girls!!
Thanks Kerry for a brill class and easing my fear of patterns!
Jxo
They are so cute and using vintage sheets for pjs is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant - looking forward to the photo of all four of you stood in a row wearing matching PJs!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteOmg totally love this 'jimmer jammers'!! They look so cosy! X
ReplyDeleteOh and its so ironic that an old sheet used for bed and was gonna get thrown out is to b used for bed again!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pjs Judith.... I am sure your girls will love them too! It's so cold here in Melbourne. Definitely need the fleecy kind at the moment. Have a great weekend.........Marie x
ReplyDeleteWow they are gorgeous - well done for getting them finished, loving that sheet too, another one I don't have in my collection! But I'm thinking of organising another VS swap this autumn...
ReplyDeleteLove that you have von Trap family jammie plans! Just don't make matching headscarves, ok? Your PJs are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely, I am sure I used to have a duvet cover in that fabric!
ReplyDeleteCan you all sing?
They look so snuggly and gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWishing I had pins as great as yours to put in a pair though!
Love the jammies ...they look so snugglyx
ReplyDeleteLooking good missus, can't wait to see you all tripping over the Mourne Mountains ;o)
ReplyDeleteReally need to get mine finished...
They're gorgeous! I have a similar issue with pj bottoms myself, having a 33" leg, so I must source a pattern to make some. Fab idea.
ReplyDeleteThey look great. Well done for getting them finished.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous jamas! I'm making some myself in a few weeks...just need to find some fabric!
ReplyDeleteeeek, these turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeletegreat PJs!
ReplyDeleteand patterns aren't difficult really, are they?
xx
Love the vintage vibe. Looking forward to seeing a group of vintage con Trapps. Di x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Love your jammies! xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh, those look so comfy, and I love the vintage sheet look!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, love the fabric choice, just perfect for soft jammies!
ReplyDeleteLove those jammies-I've already told my family they can expect PJ's for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I understand the length of pants problem, and sleeves. I didn't think 5'9 was ridiculously tall, but apparently when it comes to leg length it is. I love that scene in The Sound of Music. I reckon that will be cute all four of you together. Please show us a photo.
ReplyDelete123... doe a deer etc. Very cute pjs. My problem is that they aways end up rucked up around my knees cos I am very wiggly when asleep. Mind you nighties end up round my waist so they are not any better.
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so pleased we both thought to pack a ready made pair for the weekend. That would have been just a bit too close for comfort! Really, really love how they turned out. So who gets the matching pair of your girlies? I'm jealous! Xx
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous! I guess you look glam going to bed now too! Nothing wrong with a bit of von Trappiness just remember you have to sing while sewing and you'll be fine!
