Happy Father's Day to all the dad's in the UK!

As well as Father's Day, June is also a busy birthday month in our household.

No. 1 daughter decided to make a birthday cushion for her boyfriend, inspired by this quilt in my early birthday present this book!

So we chopped up a few pairs of jeans, smaller pieces from shirts, and voila!

Shannon's Denim Cushion

She did all the piecing & quilting herself AND put the zipper in (with a little guidance)!

She's chuffed to bits with her manly cushion!  Fingers crossed her boyfriend will like it just as much!

And when I eventually reclaimed my sewing machine, I got another Churn Dash block done for Sarah's Siblings Together Boy quilts ......

.... and the Bee Blessed BOM, Woven block (tutorial here).

Hope you are having a relaxing weekend! (With 7 excitable 14 years olds in my house today, I'm off to find a quiet corner somewhere!).

  1. Helloooooooo , can you hear me from your hidey hole? Hope you are surviving the teenagers! Love the denim cushion for the boyfriend. She did a great job with all that piecing, quilting AND a zip!

Thanks for the fab ST block too and those ruby slippers are a great wee dash of humour in your woven block - bound to bring a smile to the face of the recipient.

  2. I would HIDE! the cushion looks great she did realy well x

  3. The cushion is brilliant as are your blocks. I LOVE the ruby slippers fabric.

  4. Sooooo not looking forward to the teenage years! Great cushion x

  5. How lovely that you have passed your skills on to your daughter..... let's hope the boyfriend is as impressed as I am!!! x

  6. Love the cushion, and if he's a keeper he'll love it! Enjoy your hiding, after a party with 30, 4 and 5 year olds yesterday I needed alcohol to numb the pain, so I completely understand!! :o)

  7. I love the cushion and the bee blocks! Hope your hidey hole contains fabric, chocolate and some sort of beverage (wine? tea?) as well as somewhere comfy to park your behind ;o)

  8. That's a lot of teenagers! Love the cushion your daughter's made

  9. Oh wow High Five Praise for her. I love it came out perfect and the repurposing makes it even cooler.

  10. Think you're going to have to set up a rota for the sewing machine. Great cushion

  11. Well done daughter number 1! What a super idea and it looks fab. Of course it was a hit :)

  12. Hope the boyfriend was suitably appreciative!
