Santa Came Early!

I'm afraid I just can't wait to Christmas day to open any presents I get before the big day!

So when a Brit Bee parcel arrived yesterday, I had that paper ripped off quicker than you can say 'ho ho ho!!'

Brit Bee Secret Santa '14 received

Our secret santa brief this year was a pin cushion, small and quick! And my very own secret santa delivered a cutey!

I've already found it useful as I try to finish up my tunic.

I agreed to a last minute commission for a friend, and delivered this messenger bag this evening.

I used my own pattern for this one, but downsized it slightly as requested.  The outer fabric is a velour type needlecord, and the intended recipient has a particular fondness for the fabric on the front of the flap, as well as campervans! Fingers crossed she likes it.

So until there is more clarification on the changes and thresholds, I will be converting all my Etsy patterns back to email attachments, rather than instant downloadable PDFs, from 1st January.

Sadly, lots of other pattern sellers are closing their shops because of the new ruling.  I hope that the decision makers in charge of these policies will see the devastating impact their new rules are having on small scale sellers across Europe.

And on to more happier subjects ............... just 2 more sleeps!!!

Playing with Rainbows!

A long while ago I took part in the Fluffy Sheep Rainbow Charm Swap, and received a yummy pack of rainbow coloured charm squares.

Today I finally got around to playing with them.

Here they are up on my design board!  Isn't that just rainbow-licious!

I may not be in a hurry to sew this 'thank-you' quilt together because they are brightening up my sewing room no end!  It's like having a real rainbow right there in the room!  I love it!

And I forgot to tell you about 2 new patterns up in my Etsy shop now:

New Patterns!

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great start to the new year!

It's been a little stormy around here! But thankfully no significant damage or harm done!

Not even a high tidal surge could stop a few friends and I from having a wee jaunt out to a fabric shop yesterday!

I was very reserved in my purchases!

The super soft fleece will be backing for a quilt I currently have in progress. And the LV fat quarters?  Well they just sort of fell into my hands!!  Tee hee!

I've also been updating my Etsy shop, converting all my patterns into instant downloadable pdfs on purchase, as well as adding a few new ones:

Ipad Cover, Kindle Cover, Mini Ipad Cover
Just before Christmas my students road tested a few of these patterns for me.

Gifts Class Dec13

And I've also put on Etsy the pattern for the Applique cushions which were also tackled in class last year!

So if you fancy having a go at any of these patterns, you can find them (& more) here.

Stay safe peeps - the next wave of stormy weather kicks in Sunday!

First Class Quillows!

My Quillow class finished this evening, and what a great final night of oohing and aahing over the amazing quilts!

How fabulous are they!  Well done ladies!  I hope you get to snuggle up and enjoy your quillows on these colder nights.

If you're not sure what a quillow is, it's a quilt which folds up into a hidden pocket in the back to create a pillow (or a cushion if you live in the UK!).

And while I haven't quite got pics of all the messenger bags made in the Friday class, here are the ones I do have.

I love how different they all look!  Great job ladies!

I will be running the Messenger bag class again next term, so if you missed out this time around, you have another chance coming up!

Patterns for both the Messenger bag and Quillow are available in my Etsy shop, and I've also put up a couple of my Christmas Stocking patterns too!

Yes, it's that time of the year again! I wonder could I stay in denial for another few weeks!!
