Of Mice and Men!

Well the best laid plans sometimes go ary!

Sadly I didn't make it here:

Daughter was still too poorly (though improving now) and I was utterly exhausted.  But it sounds like a brill time was had by all (going by all the foody pics on IG!) and I know there will be other opportunities in the future to meet up with my bee mates.

What I did get to do instead, was lots of sewing!  With youngest daughter staying at a friend's house and poorly daughter tucked up in bed, I had a few hours of uninterrupted sewing!

A few pencil cases to put into my sister's shop.  And also some make-up style pouches:

There was a little bit of recycling going on there, with the navy corduroy pouches.  There are a few more make-up bags to come (sorry!) which are part-way finished.

I also got another wee commission project ticked off my list today, but I'll show you that another time!

So while I was missing sewing alongside my Brit Bee buddies this weekend (and not getting to see Uni daughter today) I still managed to get the sewing done which I would have brought away with me. 

And now a storm is closing in, so it's time to batten down the hatches and snuggle up under a quilt!

Busy Bees

Yesterday afternoon, Bee Blessed met for an industrious afternoon of Exhibition prep.

You see on 9th November, not only will my students from the past 2 years be exhibiting their makes (squeeeee!), we will also be having a craft fair fund raiser for Bee Blessed and Oasis Women's Quilting Group.

This is some of what I'll be contributing to the craft table.

And today, I hummed along to the Proclaimers in the cinema, feeling really old as my kids looked at me and said 'Who?'

Getting Ready!

My kids go back to school at the end of next week!  Yippee!

We are all looking forward to some routine after a very surreal summer.

My eldest starts her last year of school.  Eeek!! AS results day last week was a day of celebration and we are getting excited now looking at different universities.

Meanwhile, the 2 youngest put in their annual requests for Back To School pencil cases!

Bethany picked out these fabrics and wanted a flat pencil case.

Lucy (the tomboy) gets 2 because for a change I actually had fabrics that are totally her & I couldn't choose between them!

And Lucy's friend has a birthday this week, so she gets some leftover Fabric Yard fabric - love those elephants!

I have one more 'summer birthday make' to show you, and not a zipper in sight on this one!  More on that tomorrow!

Presidents & Pencil Cases!

At one stage this morning, a rather well known President was not half a mile away from me! There's been quite a stir here in sleepy N.I. as we welcome 8 of the world's most influential leaders for the G8 Summit!

Something else I can't quite believe is that my kids have only 8.5 schools days left before the summer holidays start here!  Yikes!

So a few end of term pressies were rattled out over yesterday and today!

Now that all my kids are in 'big school' there's no more making teacher presents! But there are still the last minute birthday gift and 'best friend swaps' to make!

For all these pencil cases I chose pre-cut squares from my scrap-vomit box. Daughter no.3 loves an eclectic mix of colours and prints - let's hope her 2 friends do as well!

That's another tick off the present making list!  Shirley the Cow got some attention today too, but more on that another day!

Going Green!

Youngest daughter requested a handmade pencil case for Christmas, in her favourite colours - Green!



She likes the flat style, but I thought I'd give her a choice!

Eldest daughter got a pencil case with her messenger bag in October for her birthday, but she won't use the pencil case for school cos she says it's too nice, and doesn't want it getting ruined! Bless!

So I rustled her up a 'not so pretty' more practical one she can happily ruin with pencil leads and pens!



I'm also working on a wee Christmas quilt, which the girls are encouraging me to do. I hope to get it done by Christmas day!!!!  Wish me luck!

Teachers Presents!

Today is the last day of school for my kids!

With this being the busiest June I've ever known, only my youngest's Primary school teacher and assistants got hand made pressies this year!

In the madness of this week, I also had a friend's teenage son's birthday.  So he got .... you guessed it, a pencil case filled with goodies!

I found a brill website that sold cool badges, the perfect finish for this teen pencil case (my tomboy daughter loves this one!).

So by the end of today, all presents will be safely delivered, school uniforms washed and packed away, and although my classes don't finish until 7/7, I can start to wind down and maybe even sneak in one or two lie-ins!

The Big Day!

Tomorrow is our Big Day!

The church is all set up with reams and reams of gorgeous bunting, wall to wall displays of quilts and lots more, and our very own 'Team Rooms' at the back with our craft, fabric and cake stalls.

I had an army of amazing men and women helping me make this all possible!  What a team effort!  I hope to have lots of pictures after the weekend to show you.

I managed to get a few wee items made to sell on the craft table, but not as much as I would have liked.

I particularly like the pinnies, made from the sample pack in the FQR goodies bag!

The other ladies have made lots of wonderful contributions too.  The table looks amazing!  Let's hope they all sell and we can raise lots of money for Bee Blessed and Oasis.
