Tweet Tweet!

I had a fairly quiet day of productive sewing yesterday!

I'm working on a birdie cushion for my sister's birthday ....

paper pieced birdies

I found this free paper pieced pattern on McCall'sQuilting.com, and each bird currently stands at 5" x 6".

And I got a Pippi finished for Bee Blessed:

As well as getting a few more French General Grannies finished, by 8pm I couldn't resist cutting into a Scrumptious Layer Cake with my Half Hexie ruler!  Less than an hour later I had this ...

Yes that is sunshine coming through the window!
This quilt will be a present for my friend who is having a significant birthday (wink wink) in May!

And this morning my back is reminding me of what a fun and productive sewing day I had yesterday!!

Happy Monday!

Once again a big thank you to all our contributors and members for faithfully making blocks each month.  We appreciate every one!  And while we can't always disclose details of who the quilts are donated to, please know that they are always greatly valued and cherished.

If you know how to sew or quilt, and would like to join in the Bee Blessed fun, please join us once a month for creative craic and cake!  More details here.

Irish Chains

My Irish Chain Quilt class finished tonight, and I'm delighted to be able to show you the amazing quilts that were made!

Irish Chain Quilt Class Feb14

There were 4 sizes of quilt to choose from in this pattern.  The smallest one is 79" x 84", which lots of folks made.  But there were a few not-so-fainted-hearted ladies who decided to go for sizes 2, 3 and 4 (90" x 102").

Irish Chain Quilt Class Feb14

Aren't they fabulous!  Well done ladies for wrestling through all the stages with your giant quilts!

The Irish Chain pattern uses a jelly roll and some yardage, & is now available here in my Etsy shop.

Teens and Handbags!

My middle daughter turned 15 today!  She's had a tough time of it lately, and even through hardship and disappointment she continues to smile, make me laugh, and take the best out of each day!

Happy birthday my angel! You're an inspiration!

On Monday night my Messenger Bag class rounded up with some fabulous finishes!

Messenger Bag class Feb14

Well done ladies!  You coped admirably with this technical bag.  Be very proud.

I've been trying to progress my class samples this week, for next term's programme, so no pics as yet.

But I'm pretty sure there won't be anymore sewing for the next 2 days as I've a very special visitor coming to stay!  Brace for lots of giggles and late night chats!

"Just Keep Swimming!"

Dory was my favourite character from the film 'Finding Nemo'!  Probably because I could totally relate to this ditsy, forgetful little creature that always seemed to be going round and round in circles!

But amidst a super busy week, Dory's famous line 'just keep swimming' became a great & profound motivator!!

At least my week ended on a high, watching my dear friend inspire and share her talent at her very first Embroidery workshop.

Embroidery Workshop Feb14

Sarah had some of her own beautiful work with her to inspire the class.

Just a few of her amazing makes
And the morning was spent practising an armoury of stitches and useful techniques.

Embroidery Workshop Feb14

After lunch the ladies got down to business, tracing their chosen designs and starting to stitch them up!

I didn't get any pics here, as they weren't finished in time, but I'm hoping photos of finishes will be emailed in to me (hint, hint!).  These are Sarah's designs the ladies were re-creating!

Thank you Sarah for sharing your talents and knowledge. It was a fun, relaxing day!

And well done ladies on some stunning stitchery!  Keep swimming!

Hearts a Flutter!

February is the month of luuuurrrrrvvvvv!

And what better theme for the Bee Blessed February block.

Sarah has designed this brilliant block for February, and you can find her equally brilliant tutorial here.

It is completely acceptable to use other bright colours, not just reds and pinks, as we want these hearts to alternate with another block (which will be revealed for March!).

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Happy Days!

I've never been so glad to see the back of January!  It was dark and long!

I appreciate the weather isn't much better on this first day of February, but we are that wee bit closer to spring and psychologically that makes me feel much better!

Here is my roundup for January!

Jan14 Roundup

It has felt busier than what I have to show for it!

Some of these projects are samples for next term's classes.  Hoping to reveal more soon.

Linking up with Lily's Quilts Fresh Sewing Day!
