Lady in Red!

My run on secret sewing finished a while ago!  And I can now reveal to you project no. 4 (only 1 more to go!).

My lovely Brit bee buddy, Susan, had a big significant birthday in July - you know the ones with a 0 on the end!!!

Well we in the Brit bee love nothing more than to hatch a secret sewing plan behind the back of an unsuspecting fellow member!

We decided to make Susie a wallhanging for her new sewing space, miniature blocks on a low volume background.

Here she is receiving the finished mini quilt at retreat on Friday!

As always, Susan's reactions never fail to disappoint!!

The blocks I contributed were Special Blessings and a Shamrock!

I pieced the quilt together and Trudi quilted and bound it!  Isn't it fab!  I'm sorry I didn't take time to take more close up pics of it!  I was so caught up in watching Susie's surprise!

And if you want to read more about what this wee quilt means to Susan (warning - tissues needed!) then hop on over to Susan's blog.

It was a delight and a privilege for me to be involved in the making of this special mini quilt for a special friend.

And more exciting news!

My daughter has re-opened her Etsy shop and is now stocking lots more of these cute quilting row markers!

There are sets of 6 & 12 available, as well as gorgeous fimo glazed jewellery!  Go check it out, and tell your friends!

A Vintage Line!

I managed to get the house to myself for an hour or two today, and cracked on with some sewing.

2 of my vintage quilt tops are now finished:

It was so bright and breezy today, I couldn't get a good picture of them, so I took them inside and draped them over my dining table.

This one is for my friend's birthday next month.  One of those purple squares in the centre is from my pillowcase when I was wee!  It's the softest brushed cotton!

This one is for my niece who's had a really tough year.

I've almost finished the top of the 3rd one, which will be for me!

So a productive day today!

Tomorrow my nephew comes to stay for the weekend.  He's 6, has cerebral palsy and is an adorable cheeky chap!  My girls love having him here.  So I don't think there'll be too much sewing done!

And before I go, if you love cute Russian dolls, check out these!

New Kids on the Block!

No.1 Daughter finished her GCSE's yesterday!

Hooray!

She has coped amazingly well, not only over the 5 weeks of exams, but the previous 2 years worth of controlled assessments too!  I'm so proud of her!

To celebrate, she launched her Etsy Shop yesterday - Poppy's Pocket!

Most of you will know that Shannon makes the most beautiful fimo creations and charms (yes, I know I'm biased).

On the back of successful sales through school and my classes she has taken the plunge and is going to try to sell her wares to the rest of the world too!

She would love it if you would pop over and have a wee look and let her know what you think!

And not only that, she's only gone and got the blogging bug too.

The Crafty Teen is her blog, where she posts lost of fimo tutorials (on Youtube also).  If you know anyone who would like to be inspired in this craft, let them know that there is a Crafty Teen in Belfast who loves to share her ideas & inspire others.

And one more 'New Kid' to mention.

My friend & fellow Bee Blessed buddy, Tina has just started up a wee blog called Secret Ingredient: Love.  Tina is not only a fab quilter, but makes the most mouthwatering brownies, cookies and more!  (I love it when she brings her choccy nut cookies to BB!).

She is still in the early stages of setting up her blog, but I'm sure she would love it if some of you said hello!

Yesterday was a significant day for another reason too.  In the evening, daughter no.3 had her graduation service from Primary School.  Only 6.5 school days leftof P7!  My baby is growing up!  Yikes!

Have a great Thursday!
