Charming!

If you love rainbows and fabric as much as me, then you might like to know that both are now available in my Etsy shop!!!

Charm packs & mini Charm packs available in my Etsy Shop

I am now selling packs of 5" squares in sunny rainbow colours.  The double rainbow pack has 168 squares (24 of each of the 7 rainbow colours), enough to make a rainbow quilt similar to this one:

Or if you are replenishing your rainbow stash, or want to make a baby quilt, how about a single rainbow pack of 84 squares (12 of each of the 7 rainbow colours)!

Quilt As You Go!

You may remember 2 mini pouches I made for our Bee Blessed craft fair.

Bee Blessed Craft Table pouches

Well they were made with the leftovers from this ....

I really enjoy the Quilt As You Go (QAYG) method of piecing and quilting all in one go!  It's so satisfying using up scraps and leftover jelly roll strips!  And let's face it, we are always generating more scraps!!

This shopper is of generous proportions, and has an inset zipper closure.  I will be teaching it in class next term, and I'm fairly sure folks will enjoy this technique as much as I do!!

I couldn't resist making a wee matching pouch to go with it!

And in all the hustle and bustle of the pre-exhibition shenanigans, I completely forgot to tell you that I signed up for Rachael's Low Volume Charm swap!  Here are my submissions, which I got from this lovely lady!

2 yards of loveliness all chopped up and delivered.  Now I just have to be patient and wait for a bundle of low volume goodness to make it's way back across Belfast to me!!

Pixilated Heart!

A few months ago I took part in a Low Volume Charm swap.

Low Volume is a term used to describe quiet, soft, non-bright colours or prints.  In the swap I submitted 4 yards worth of LV charm squares (in 2 prints) and received back 112 squares in 56 different prints.

And I knew exactly how I wanted to use them!

Pixilated Heart Quilt Top

I've admired mini versions of this pixilated heart design, and wanted to upsize it to a good size quilt that I can teach in class.  This one is weighing in at approx. 68" x 68".

I had to add in a few more LV squares from my stash, and a good friend came to my rescue when I realised I didn't have enough reds!

I'm supposed to be writing up patterns this week, but I just couldn't resist getting this one sewn up!

I think this is my new favourite!

Hope you are having a great week so far!

Don't Shoot The Messenger!

Bee Blessed was due to meet this Saturday, but I've had to cancel it due to a contentious paramilitary parade happening in our area. Boo!

It's been a few weeks now since we've got together, and we were looking forward to catching up and progressing the many quilts we have on the go!

We've rescheduled BB for next Saturday.  Hopefully, the parade will pass over peacefully!

On the theme of messengers, I can show you the messenger bag I've made this week!

PicMonkey Collage

Following on from this one I made for my niece, I decided to make one for myself, but also to develop it as a potential future class.

I added a zippered pocket in the flap - when I pitch up to class with my arms loaded with stuff, I need a handy, easy access pocket for my classroom keys.  I'm planning to make a cute zipper pull for it!

I have some lush linen pulled to make a 2nd one, when I get some zips to match!  Here's an idea of the scale of the bag (approx. 14" x 13" x 3"):

That poke at the bottom disappears when the bag is filled with my rubbish belongings!
My new bag got its first test drive today and it didn't disappoint!

I've also managed to turn my Low Volume Charm Squares into something!

But more on that another day!

Happy Friday!

Low Volume Love!

Today is all about spreading the love!

I know valentines day is tomorrow, but I have a few lovely things to share with you today.

First up, my soothing low volume charm squares from the Low Volume Charm swap hosted by the lolly-liscious Laura Jane!

I have plans for these quiet squares:

I'm thinking LV charm squares for the background, and vintage brights for the heart! Yum!

Next up, I'm sharing the love of some very happy & proud faces from my latest 'Machine Sewing for Beginners' course.

Beginners Class Feb13

Not only did they conquer the sewing machine, tension problems, different feet, rotary cutters & seams, but they put zippers into their first cushions, and also made quilted tote bags!

Well done ladies!  You were amazing!

And on the theme of classes, I have just released my new programme for next term (April - July) which you can see here.  Just drop me an email if you would like to sign up for a class or workshop.

And last but not least, I'll be spreading more love tomorrow with a very special Valentine's day giveaway!  Oooh, it's a guddun'!
