Ahead of Schedule!

What with all the secret sewing going on around here, I'll show you what I did at the weekend!

No, not that!  (though I am particularly chuffed that my 'Couch to 5K' training is up to 2.6k after only 3 weeks!).

Brit Bee R4 block for Ange

This is the next block installment in Brit Bee R4.  Designed by Di and made for Ange!

The block isn't due until next month, but I knew AMH feathers can be a bit challenging.  I decided to foundation piece mine, and it worked a treat!

Churn Dash blocks for Bee Blessed

I also got a couple of Churn Dash blocks made for Bee Blessed.  They are collecting these in until 14th February, so still plenty of time if you fancy making one or two!

Happy Thursday!

Repurposing!

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's in the UK!

As well as Father's Day, June is also a busy birthday month in our household.

No. 1 daughter decided to make a birthday cushion for her boyfriend, inspired by this quilt in my early birthday present this book!

So we chopped up a few pairs of jeans, smaller pieces from shirts, and voila!

Shannon's Denim Cushion

She did all the piecing & quilting herself AND put the zipper in (with a little guidance)!

She's chuffed to bits with her manly cushion!  Fingers crossed her boyfriend will like it just as much!

And when I eventually reclaimed my sewing machine, I got another Churn Dash block done for Sarah's Siblings Together Boy quilts ......

.... and the Bee Blessed BOM, Woven block (tutorial here).

Hope you are having a relaxing weekend! (With 7 excitable 14 years olds in my house today, I'm off to find a quiet corner somewhere!).

Traditional Twists!

This month in the Brit Bee, the beautiful LJ has us churning!

These 8 mini churn dash blocks make up 2 x 12.5" blocks, clever eh?  Lauli's perfectly chosen rainbow fabrics really make the churns stand out.  This quilt is going to be one bright and colourful take on an age-old block!

Keeping with the more traditional theme, I got my commission quilt finished today.

The lady who commissioned this is wanting to gift it to her SIL and specifically asked for her name to be included on the back.  These fabrics were lovely to work with (Late Bloomers by Sandy Gervais and Kona Cream).

The quilt will be delivered on Thursday.  Fingers crossed it meets with approval!

I also got another quilt finished today, but more on that tomorrow!
