Well, I put my big girl pants on this morning, and drill in hand, I went for it!
It took some effort to get a deep enough hole for the rawl plug (how impressed are you that I even know what these things are called!) and screw, but I was laser focussed and wasn't going to be beaten!
I'm chuffed to bits with how my very special Brit Bee Giant Linen Star quilt looks above my bed! (Please ignore the 'too long' metal rod sticking out the bottom of the quilt! I'm waiting on a hack saw!!)
I've been keen to get this quilt up in my room, because of it's symbolism and significance to me. I may now be alone in my bed at night, but I have the reminder of a community of close quilty friends right above my head!
And before I go, check out this awesome blogiversary giveaway that Reene and Yvonne are hosting! It's a cracker!

Giant Irish Linen Star!
Back in February I asked my Brit Bee mates to help me make a wallhanging for above my bed.
I sent them out scrappy hsts and I teamed the finished blocks with some Irish linen offcuts I'd bought (natural and mocha) .
Last week, in 25 degree heat, I took the head-staggers and decided to quilt the beastie!
And here it is!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how this has turned out!
I decided to quilt the 4 diagonal quadrants to mirror the star points, using a neutral coloured thread.
The back is a vintage sheet from this lovely lady, which has the same duck egg blues in it as the front - perfect!
I have also sewn a hanging sleeve onto it, but just need to source a weighted rod for the bottom of the quilt and then it is going up on my wall (when I work out how to use a drill!!).
A big thank you to all my talented Brit Bee buddies for contributing to this really special quilt which I will soon get to look at every day!

Mocha Made It.....
..... into my Brit Bee Giant Star wallhanging!
Apart from this needing a jolly good iron, I'm really pleased with out it has turned out!
Thank you everyone for your brilliant feedback and suggestions! In the end I had to go with what I had available, and as you can get a truer sense of the colours here, I'm hoping the non-mocha voters will be swayed!

And today I got sewing with some Marmalade yummies ...
... and a bandana for my neck ..... because it is almost summer ...... which means it is freezing!!!!!!

Well I'm heading off tomorrow for a weekend of bloggy shenanigans!! No doubt there will be incriminating evidence for you to look at online before I get home Sunday!!
Have a good one!
