In The Frame!

I've been experimenting a bit with different materials for my upcoming Framed Purses workshop.

I'm quite pleased with the Sew-in Vilene/cotton combo ....

... and the wadding/deco weight combo.

There are a few more variations I want to try, but need to order more supplies!!

But one question I want to ask:

Acetone (nail polish) is great for removing excess glue from silver metal frames, but stains the gun-metal finished ones!  Anyone know of an alternative substance I could try, that won't leave a mark?

Framed Purses Saturday Workshop:
21st September, 10am - 4pm (places available)

  1. Gorgeous pursee, what glue are you using? I've always been able to remove glue (once dry) with just my fingernail...

  3. I have used fingernails too. You could try taping the frame with masking tape beforehand - it is what Lisa at U-handbags recommends though I haven't tried it myself.

  5. These look lovely - I am so excited about this class. I have wanted to learn to do this forever! I know that Lakeland sell a product called sticky stuff remover which is reputed to be very good, but unfortunately I don't know if it works. Furniture polish works on some adhesives too but maybe more the kind of sticky label residue type. Not v helpful am I?

  9. I didn't know nail varnish remover stained the gun metal frames but I've only used nail varnish remove to wipe off the odd bit of glue from fabric. I'm a nail scratcher with frame glue normally.

  11. I am a nail picker, way to scared to add fuel to the mess! A quick scrape and polish always works. Your samples are lovely xxx

  12. Lovely purses Judith. I am definitely a nail picker but white spirit works a treat too. Di x

  13. I use the contact glue that you put on both sides. It comes off real easy, but sticks to itself with a strong bond. Think it's by evo
