'How Much Is That Doggy In The Window?'
Well this one might not have a waggly tail (sorry if you don't know the song!), but I still love his cute stumpy one!
Using Denyse Schmidt's pattern, I dipped into my 'scrap vomit' box of random 2.5" squares and rustled this Scottie Dog up in an evening!
I was anticipating sewing on the orange gusset to be tricky and fiddly, and guess what? IT WAS!!
But amazingly, there was no unpicking required and I'm pretty happy with how the awkward corners turned out.
So Scrappy Scottie is now on his way to my daughter's doggy loving friend, for her 13th birthday! I definitely want to make more of these, but might try out a few ideas on how to put the gusset on more easily.

ReplyDeletesweet, I'm sure your daughter's friend will love it. Oh, and that gusset does look like such a pain. You did great.
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! That gusset looks super tricky but your one is really neat - well done!

ReplyDeleteDoggie is so cute! I've just got to make one for my granddaughter. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteHa! I love your honesty. Well done creating something so happy, cheerful and special for a 13th. Its going to be so well loved! (If not, send that pup over here!!!)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I made one of these a while ago and refused to give it to my kids (which was the original plan) and it sits proudly in my workroom.
ReplyDeleteLove your colours. I has a lot of unpicking the gusset when I first did one. I've recently seen (but forget where in blog land) someone wh made the gusset with squares as well. I think that will make it easier for keeping lined up as you have built in registration marks.
ReplyDeleteScottie looks fabulous!! Rather you than me! Have decided that I can only work on flat projects!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh this one is sooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be singing that song all day now haha. Scottie dog is very cute :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Scottie.......looks so much fun. Have a great day. Marie
ReplyDeleteI like the bit of animal print on his tail, he may be little but I bet he is feisty. The gusset looks great so you obviously got it sorted.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'm sure he'll be well loved
ReplyDeleteAdorable. I think he will be a popular little doggy.
ReplyDeleteI love it...I've also made him, in fact i made two. I made the first one for my grandaughter and when my daughter saw it she thought it was a doorstop so I made another one and put duct taped bags of sand in the legs and body to weigh him down. There you are....I see more of these in your future!!!xx
ReplyDeleteI love it J.

Love this! However the tricky sewing round the edge puts me off!! I don't think I have the required patience haha!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is he! These will make fab pressies!
ReplyDeleteMy Mum sewed a dog in this style as she awaited my birth in 1977! A timeless design. And I do know that song. It was the song we had to perform in my very first school concert when I was 5.
