Skinny sashing that is!
I couldn't delay my niece's cushion any longer, so I just had a go with the pink scraps I already have, rather than buying new (thanks everyone for your brill suggestions - I was druleing over all the beautiful collections and links you gave me!).
I've been wanting to try Elizabeth Hartman's Mod Mosaic pattern for ages, and this gave me the opportunity.
Some of these pinks are recyled items, curtains etc., the gingham I've had for approx. 100 years! and the rest are mostly leftovers from other projects. And despite there being quite a few different shades of pink here, I think they kinda work together, and meet the criteria of 'pale pink'!
I was going to put a button holed envelope back on the back (my button holes need the practise, or rather I need to practise my button holes lol!) and buy some delicious girly pink buttons. Jury is still out on that one, mainly because time is running out & I have a new complication in my week (see below)!
I've also decided to stay 'skinny' with the sashing on my Stained quilt (now more appropriately named 'Stained Blue' - thanks Nicky! Hadley's suggestion is unprintable!) and will make the outer border larger instead.
Well, today was the first day of the Easter school holidays, and guess what happened?
My footie mad daughter had day 1 of her much loved annual footie camp, but ended up in the Minor Injuries Unit with a very badly sprained ankle. No footie (or anything else for that matter!) for 2 weeks! To make matters worse, she had been invited to County level football trials tomorrow night! Bummer!
So our Easter break looks a little different now, with the daughter who can't sit still having to sit still for 2 weeks!
I wonder will I have any hair left by the time they go back to school!!
No way! Poor girl - which of you will go crazy first I wonder?
ReplyDeleteYour modern mosaic cushion panel is beautiful and very suitably pink and feminine. I love this design and always have fun making it.
oh no, hope your daughter is ok: I know that feeling!!
ReplyDeleteLove your pink cushion top
The block looks fab, but sorry for you daughter (and you!)
ReplyDeleteHow disappointing for your daughter. That pink mosaic looks really lovely - its such a great pattern.
ReplyDeleteThe pink Mosaic is fab and will make a great cushion - however you finish it off! Poor girl! I hope she recovers soon and gets another chance!
ReplyDeleteOh your poor daughter must be devastated... So sad! Your pillow panel looks fabulous though... Love the different pink prints!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! Poor daughter - is it her 'sewing foot'? If not, get her quilting some straight lines on something big!
ReplyDeleteLove the cushion block, and I will never speak of those stains again!
oh I think that's so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteTerrible news about your daughter :( Table football for Easter??
Oh no - poor football mad daughter - maybe she could sit on the sofa and watch re-runs of match of the day? It sounds like you aren't having the easiest of times at the moment.... so you have been in my thoughts. Would it cheer you up to know I just made two wonky house blocks for the bee blessed? (I am hoping very wonky stitching is just what you needed!) xx
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is going to be wonderful! Make that girl sit still because a badly healed sprain is much worse than participating in late tryouts, etc., trust me. Can she go and cheer for her friends?
ReplyDeleteI love it I love it! Esp the little birdie print. Great make, J!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of that pillow to be! Hope your daughter gets better soon and hopefully they will give her another chance. X Fi
ReplyDeleteOh poor footie mad daughter! Hope you maintain a basic level of sanity over the next two weeks. Your mosaic in pinks is gorgeous too! really love it.
ReplyDeleteOh dear!! Poor daughter and POOR JUDE!! For goodness sake find a substitute for hair pulling or you'll be bald for June....
ReplyDeleteLove the mod mosaic and I'm quite sure the pinks will be perfect.
Does your sister do wigs too? :) and really, you are not THAT old! I am - he he! Sorry the poor wee footie mad DD is out of action, I think Hadley is right, get her busy making - something - anything! Keep your hair on Judith, no pulling, we don't want any more Brit Bee's with handfuls of hair! Absolutely beautiful pink panel, gonna make a gorgeous cushion :) button fastening or not :) Chin up chick!
ReplyDeleteLove this cushion, it's yummy. Hope the ankle heals quickly, for your sake!
ReplyDeleteI love your cushion! Hope the ankle heals soon xx
