A Nice Surprise!

When I returned from my weekend away, the lamp-post outside my house had been yarn-bombed!

What a nice touch! Now I can look out my sewing room window and admire someone else's creativity!

I got a few additional items made for big sister's shop this week (I know I said I wasn't making anymore!).

And in case you thought we've forgotten about Bee Blessed this month, just a wee reminder that the Strip Steps block that was set in November will continue through December.

Aaachoooooo!

In keeping with the change of weather here and the rife seasonal colds, I made some handy tissue pouches to sell!

I was also sent some vinyl covered fabrics from a lovely friend, and I turned these into simple wash bags, with wipeable linings.

I've had a wee go at making my own 'vinyl' covered fabric (using heat 'n bond) so I may have a few more washbags made before all the shop stock gets handed over!

Crazy Critters!

Tissue Pouches

These might be appropriately timed for 31st October, but they are actually craft stall items for our Bee Blessed fund raiser next week.

I made the denim/pink one for my young niece, whose birthday is also next week.

She's mad about pink, so I made her a cute wee pouch too!  Inside the pouch is a teeny weeny jar of fimo flumps, made by my daughter!

Well I'm off to class. Fingers crossed it won't be too scary!!

There is hope!

Despite the horrific weather I battled with today, I came away from my sister's salon feeling positive!

Not only did I get a re-style (and of course those impetuous grey roots dyed into submission) but I also found out that 2 of my bags have sold!  Hooray!

And because all of the make-up pouches had previously sold I brought 5 more down with me plus 6 tissue pouches (see pics here).

Within 10 minutes of me setting them out, 4 tissue pouches sold and 1 of the new make-up pouches.  And so as not to completely deplete the stock before customers get a look in, my sister & one of her staff have also ordered about 6 more make-up pouches for teachers' Christmas presents!!  

Looks like I need to order more zips then!!

I can't bear to write a post without a photo (?!) so I'll show you the quilt back for the 'man' quilt we are making in Bee Blessed.  I just love that Kona Ash, one of my favourite Kona colours!

Pretty Maids All In A Row!

I'm heading down to my sister's salon tomorrow.  As far as I know none of my handbags have sold, but all the make-up pouches have sold, so I've made some more of those to take down with me.

I've also made some tissue pouches to take down, as folks seem to be buying smaller gifts at the moment.

I'll give you an update on sales when I return on Thursday.

Thanks Elisa for your wonderful package of treats & Bee Blessed blocks.  Elisa is my lovely friend across the water in USA, and writes her blog with honesty, passion and creativity - pop on over and say hi!

I've always admired & desired one of Elisa's signature origami cranes.  And now I have one to keep my other crane company.  What should I call them?

Also in the post was the fabric I've ordered for my dad's 70th birthday Civil War quilt.  

Charlotte at The Homespun Loft was an absolute super-star in helping me choose the fabrics I needed, using her discerning eye to guide me on what worked together, and making up & photographing a bespoke bundle just for me.  Thanks Charlotte so much for your first-class service and attentiveness.

So now I need to add 'Start making Civil War blocks' to my ever growing To Do list!!

Christmas Gifts - Part 2

Ok, here is my 2nd project for my Christmas Gifts classes to make:

You've seen me make some of these tissue pouches before.  Once you get the hang of the pattern, they are so quick and easy to make, and a great way to recycle smaller pieces of fabric. 

There is no wadding in these, and you can decorate them how you like.

I like to fill mine with novelty packets of tissues, but I'm finding them hard to come by these days!  I will have to take a trip to a few garden centres to see if I can pick up some funny ones!

These are also the perfect size for storing mobile phones.

I hope to soon have a Christmas Gifts Part 3, when I get more things made, so watch this space!

A-Tissue!

This morning I got a wee lie in - much needed after 2 really hectic days on Friday & Saturday.

After church, I threw a korma together in the slow cooker for tea-time, and headed up to the sewing room.

All the stuff from yesterday's Bee Blessed had been dumped into the sewing room, and the door firmly closed behind!

So after a sort through and tidy up, I did actually get some sewing done.

I made 3 tissue pouches, one of which is for my Small Goodies swap partner B (but I'm sworn to secrecy which one!).

The others are for friends who need a little lift!

I've also made some progress on my Across the Sea QAL, but more on that tomorrow!
