So I've got my Surfer Dude quilt top finished, according to this tute.

Only problem is, my nephew is at least 6' 2", and this quilt will just about cover his ankles!!
So I'm thinking, border, leftover scraps, etc. to eek it out a bit bigger without having to buy more fabric (haven't a clue yet what's going on the back or for the binding).
Need to get the old squared paper and pencil out again to do a bit of maths (groan!!!!!!!!!)

We take a lot of pleasure from the birds that visit our garden, my youngest daughter in particular. We even have some nesting in our boxes this year. We are just hoping this isn't the pregnant female we've been watching getting the box ready for her new family. So sad.

awww Jude, mangled burdie? Poor wee thing. Its funny how quilt sizes come across, I'd never have guessed that one is only 4" narrower than its length. Good luck with the extending!!

ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and good to know I`m not the only one who fails to plan the binding and backing at the sketching stage LOL. Sad about the birdy - we used to come across baby birds who had fallen out of the nest - so sad.

Judith, is that a tit? I love the birds over there. Your robins are different than ours. I used to have 2 Brit bird mugs (one with a robin) but sadly they both broke over time-- and they were my faves. The birds have been singing and getting ready for nesting around here, too. Your nephew's quilt looks awesome! I'm sure you'll come up with a great border to coordinate. Sorry about having to do the math! (It keeps our minds from rusting). He will love it!
