Two quilt finishes in one week! Goodness gracious me!
The idea behind this quilt was to modernise the traditional bear paw block for a class I'll be teaching next term. You can read more info about it here.
This is the 'baby' size (approx. 55" x 55"), but the pattern will also have the option of upsizing to a Mama Bear Paw Quilt.
I used a fq bundle of Savannah Bop which I won at FQ Retreat last year. The guts of 6 fqs went into the front, and the rest went into the back and scrappy binding.
For speed I quilted diagonally through the blocks, though there are many quilting options open to this pattern. As with most of what I teach, when the pattern gets written up it will be available in my Etsy shop.
Well, I'm almost caught up with myself now! I will soon need to turn my attention to some birthday makes, but with my boiler broken down again, I just want to snuggle up in front of the fire!
Hope you are all keeping warm!
Two quilts in one week!! Phew. I can't manage one quilt in two years!!!! xx This is fantastic, and will be a brilliant class x
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely Jude!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty quilt. So sorry that your boiler is misbehaving again. Keep warm. Di x
ReplyDeleteHi Judith! You can guess that I love this quilt! Those sunny colours with white are most beautiful and the pattern is wonderful! x Teje
ReplyDeleteYou aren't having much luck with that boiler. At least you have a host of newly quilted items to snuggle under while you wait for the repair man. This revamped block pattern is lovely in this scale and is very striking in those sunshine colours of your fqs. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteRidiculously stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the old blocks brought to life like this.
ReplyDeleteOn no on the boiler being broken again! Good thing you have a house full of gorgeous quilts to snuggle up and keep warm in. Love the bear paw. Great pattern and I love the colours of those FQs.
ReplyDeleteYou are just too quick with those quilts! The colours on your bear paw are really stunning. Maybe you should snuggle under one of those new lovelies- the class will not notice, I am sure!
ReplyDeleteOh what a happy quilt, despite the stupid bloody boiler xxx
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous and sunny!
ReplyDeleteThat's one stunning quilt Jude! Bummer about the boiler, keep snuggled :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great, and just in time for the snuggling by the sounds of things ;o)
ReplyDeleteBoo to broken boilers :-( love the quilt, its so cheerful
ReplyDeleteLove a Bear's Paw! Good for you re-interpreting traditional blocks and bringing them alive again! Hope the boiler is fixed!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, this quilt! Such nice fabrics, put together in a artistic way.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! I thought the boiler got fixed (replaced?) last year? Hope it's mended soon!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - only 6FQs or did you add other fabrics?
ReplyDeleteOH WOW! I so love it! I love the colors, love the pattern, love the size. Super finish, J!
